It’s with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Willy Nwokedi. Along with his wife Josephine, he was among the first group of people who joined Legacy and helped its success.

Mr Nwokedi, who had a close relationship with John and Jill Godwin, introduced Legacy to the Nigerian Railway Compound, Ebute Metta. He had a central role in setting up the Joint NRC/ Legacy committee, and he worked tirelessly with Chief Greg Ilukwe to make it a success.

Mr Nwokedi had a pivotal role in helping set up the Mini Museum at Jaekel House, after the building had been restored to its former glory. He was also at the forefront of bringing about the steam train trips organised by Legacy, which were a big success. He was very keen to restore the locomotives left in Legacy’s care, as well as the historic Running Shed that dates back to the 1890s. Mr Nwokedi served as Legacy President between 1998- 2001 and was right up until his passing a Legacy Trustee, where his advice and opinions were greatly valued.
