Legacy, The Historical and Environmental Interest Group of Nigeria, successfully hosted its 1st Assets Tour and Picnic Feast on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The event took place at Jaekel House, a historic landmark located within the Nigeria Railway Compound, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
Participants embarked on a guided tour of the Old Running Shed, Ilukwe House, and Jaekel House, gaining valuable insights into Nigeria’s rich history and heritage. The event also featured discussions on building partnerships and support, with attendees sharing their perspectives on how to foster collaboration and enhance the preservation of Nigeria’s cultural assets.
The Physical Executive meeting concluded with the development of unique projects aimed at boosting local and international tourism, forging partnerships, promoting cultural engagement, and facilitating knowledge exchange. Legacy plans to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Tourism, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation, to implement these initiatives.
Legacy, a registered non-profit organization, is dedicated to preserving Nigeria’s historical monuments, environment, and cultural entities. Through its various activities, Legacy aims to promote knowledge, raise awareness, and leave a recorded legacy for future generations.

Legacy is a non-profit membership organization with a Board of Trustees and Membership. A dedicated team of volunteers oversees the day-to-day operations with the supervision of its Honorary Executives. The organization focuses on organizing workshops, events, and research initiatives related to Nigeria’s heritage. Legacy also actively seeks funding for conservation, restoration projects, and the maintenance of historic sites.
